Amazes me that Milkit goes 1 for 5 and his average actually goes UP. We have three guys right how, starters -- four if you include Lee (sans his nice game yesterday) who are hitting like pitchers. Fontenot at .204, Soto at .204, Badly at .196 and Lee. How in the world are we even near the top of the division? Fortunately, we are; and you have to believe that this team, when it gets healthy and when it starts to reach its potential -- will be something else.
You think Lee started thinking of Wally Pip at any point this year? He better get hot or he will lose his position. I hope the 4 for 5 yesterday was the start of a "get hot" and not a fluke, otherwise he just bought himself another three weeks of playing time.
Padres suck -- go get Peavy. Why not? Might as well stockpile good pitching. I'm sure he'd still like to be a Cub and we can give them some minor league arms.
Rich Hill had a nice first outing for Baltimore the other day. Went 6 and got the win. Not that you care.
Ownership issue may never be settled. Ricketts can't get the money together. Time to bring in Mark Cuban who doesn't need to get it together...he HAS it. Unpublicized hold up in the deal is the big coffee concession issue -- King Coffee Bean wants to be the sole coffee source for Wrigley, because who doesn't enjoy a nice hot cup of joe on a smarmy August afternoon at the ballpark. Kids get free samples of espresso.
Have a great week -- I'm on the road again, but will try to check in at least a couple of times. Especially if anything good or bad happens on the field.

I think we are at the top of the division eventhough we have Dlee and Milkit underperforming because they haven't been in the line up all that much and we have gotten production from the call ups, Hoffa and Scales. Wells has pitched well, why go get Peavy if Wells is going to be that good?
I am glad Rich Hill had a good outing.
How about Fuko hitting .330? Anyone see that coming?
Yeah, I saw it coming. And if you go back thru our winter chats, I consistently stood up for him. Though I did have the word Jap censored by the muskrat blogs filter.
Good for Rich Hill, look for 8 walks in 2 1/3 innings in his next outing. Felix is still playing, and swinging freely.
I am encouraged by so many of our players being of little use, and still being 6 over. I expect the lagers to kick in, and then we should be fine.
I'm not in favor of getting Peavey unless it is dirt cheap. we have several young arms who can contribute, or will in the next few years. I don't want to lose Vitters, He will be ready in 2-3 years, perhaps about the time Aram needs replacing. If we can have Jake for what the Indians sent us for DeRosa, fine, otherwise, It's too expensive. Starting pitching is not our issue. Would Peavey consider being a closer?
Aren't you always on the road? I mean it's not like the arms dealers come to San Clemente, well not any more.
Oh yeah...Gregg sucks.
Players who are already on the trading block, Matt Holliday- Oakland A's, Mark DeRosa- Cleveland Indians.
Roy Halliday- Toronto Blue Jays.
Anyone interested?
Any others yous here about? Other than Peavy.
I'm having a tough time believing Halliday is on the blocks, but would love to have DeRosa (and Wood) back.
Roy H is in a contract year and the Jay's may be looking to get prospects instead of losing him.
He was mentioned in ST, but at this point the Jay's are looking competitive so maybe not, and they have those hapless Yankees in their division.
