I heard a rumor that there was a trade rumor but it was just a rumor.
The sports page sure is boring this time of year.
I suppose we could argue the BCS if anyone wants.
If we get David DeJesus from KC...it might be good that we don't have to listen to Harry Caray try to say his name -- might be a lot of blaspheming.
best to cb
more later...

College football needs a playoff bracket of at least 8 teams.
It's embarrassing that this is the only significantly popular sport in America that has no real national championship.
Revolting.

Nice post with Thanksgiving.
The Cubs web site lists an article about the Cubs being done with Peavy talks and an article about the O's being the 3rd team in the Cubs Padres Peavy talks. I didn't realize Peavy was only 10-11 last year. Is that because no one scored for him or is he not the same dominant pitcher anymore?
Here is something that irritated me yesterday, the Anaheim Ducks game was not televised yesterday, only a radio feed, they were playing the Carolina Hurricanes, they won 4-1. Ducks hockey helps me get through the offseason. Let me know if anyone wants 2 tickets to a Ducks game, nice seats- Club level.
Is David Dejesus related to Ivan Dejesus?
The BC what?
A 16 team playoff is the answer. First you eliminate all bye weeks and conference tournaments. Then sixteen teams -- enough to rid us of "who got screwed" talk (I mean if you weren't in the top ten, you probably aren't that good to begin with...so who gives a shit if you are 16 or 17?)
Pure round robin. 1 plays 16, 2 plays 15 and so on. If the rankings are "right" we should have the top eight move on. So only eight teams play one extra game. No big deal.
Second round is tougher and four survive. Now four teams have played two extra weeks.
Final four is easy. Two weeks to the national championship. Two teams end up with four extra games. I think they'll tell you it was worth it.
There. That's all I have to say about the BCS.
Note: Peavy was 10 - 11 last year because the Padres absolutely blew offensively. He had a 2.85 era. 166K's vs 56 BB. Gives up a homer every ten innings.
The Trib pointed out today what I've said all fall... D Lee led the majors in chances to ground into a DP, he "accomplished" that feat more than all but one other player. 27 times in 180 chances or 15% of the time.
I say keep him.
Keep Dlee? 8,5,2,2,1,2 Those are his HR's by month. I will add them up for you math challenged folks, 20, 12 from May 1 through the end of the season. That doesn't qualify as a 3 hitter making how many million? Trade him IF there are any takers.
The world needs an enema...
