DeRo GONE

We just traded Mark DeRosa to the Indians for three minor league pitchers. Sound like the backbone to a Jake Peavy trade, anyone?

We did pick up Aaron Kilometers earlier -- who can play second and is a better number two hole hitter than anyone we have.

Yikes. Didn't see that coming.

You heard it here first.

Really, you like Aaron Miles ahead of TheRiot in the 2 hole. All TheRiot does is have good patient at bats, works counts and hits line drives to the right side which is pretty much my idea of a pretty damn good 2 hole hitter. This gives the leadoff hitter some pitches to run on and by hitting to the right side keeps out of the double play.

Setting up a Peavy deal, maybe, would be good. So Miles will play over Fontenot or maybe they will platoon? I like the Canjun due, Miles- we will see how he looks now that he is out of that shitty red costume.

Will miss Derosa for sure, pure hustle and a quality guy on the field an off, good luck to him and Woody.

the Aaron Miles pickup means the Cubs now have 3 of the same player. Miles, Theriot, and Fontenot. They are all slappy hitting 2nd basemen, and none are even decent shortstops. Also, none can play 3rd or the outfield...and we know Aramis needs a day off a week or he starts jogging everywhere. If Peavy doesn't become a Cub, this will have been a bad deal.

I don't want, nor have I ever wanted Bradley. He is coming off a career year, where he DH'd a LOT of the time. He has never hit for better average, hit more HR's or had more RBI. His numbers as an NL player in the past aren't all that good, and it isn't like he is a highly respected defender...I just don't see where he is all that big an upgrade over a Reed J./Fuko platoon.

Sign Peavy, get Dunn, be done.

My fucking Internet has been out for a week at the office and after spending 2 hours on the phone with them this afternoon, they promised to look in to it. bastards.

So I come home and get on the wife's computer and find our last years possible MVP is gone for 3 minor league arms. I'm guessing the Peavy deal is still in the works. Otherwise I'm dumbfounded, not an entirely unknown state for me.
I was expecting to find that Marquis was heading west, but this took me by surprise.

Is it now apropos to root for the Tribe? They need to bring back Charlie Sheen (my favorite actor and Mark DeCarlo's role model).

Miles ...a cardinal.... didn't we go thru that shit last year?

Oh well like Rosanne Rosannadanna said " ...It just goes to show you, it's always something."

DID WE ALSO GET POUJOLS TO BAT BEHIND AARON MILES SO HE CAN SEE THAT STEADY DIET OF FAST BALLS HE'S BEEN SCARFING ON FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS. THE CARDINALS ARE A SMART ORGANIZATION AND I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY'VE NON-TENDERED THE GUY THE LAST TWO YEARS. LEAVES ME THINKING THAT THE CUBS WERE JUST GETTING HIM UNDER CONTRACT TO PACKAGE HIM SOMEWHERE ALSO. J SALZEIDER

DaRosa was a bad move.
Indians may be a better contender next year.

Fukudome time for triple AAA.
Bradley...needs a handicapped parking pass after reading about all his injuries.

Oh Yeah! Didn't he miss another game because he broke a nail?

Enjoy your 2009!

I, for one, would love t hear your thoughts on the NHL game played in the confines today. Wonderful idea, hideous broadcast...and coverage. The NHL has to be thinking of doing this every year in Detroit, Pittsburg, Chicago, New York, Long Island, Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Montreal. They should...its a good idea...that could be significantly improved upon.

Loved the Winter Classic, we were looking forward to it for a while. Last years was pretty cool also, Andrew and I watched that too. I think the NHL is making the Winter Classic a New Years Day tradition and I dig it. The Blackhawks have a strong young team and are pretty much beating everyone but Detroit. I would imagine the sight lines at Wrigley for a hockey game are pretty poor. Maybe next year will be at Fenway? I will sure try and get tickets for the one in Anaheim whenever that will be.

I caught about 20 min of the hockey game which is more that my combined hockey watching since the lake placid olympics. I discovered that the only reason I watched was the location, and it was still a hockey game. Interesting to see that the announcers did not know if Billy Williams was himself or Fergie Jenkins. I guess it's ok, I couldn't pick out Stan Makita from a circular saw.

Still no internet in the office, bastards.

Doc Ravage- Give hockey a chance, it can get you through the offseason. It is best viewed live, you probably have a minor league team, or a local college or University up there- try it Doc. Fergy Jenkins played junior hockey growing up, ask him about it. He was interviewed on XM and blabbed all about it.

Props to Bad Mojo on the HasBRO injury list. I can't believe we are going to sign this clown. I will take Big Country if those are our choices. What about Bobby Abreau for shit sake?
