the outfield

What's wrong with the JCM's? Look at it this way. The JCM's would easily hit 110 homers and have upwards of 300 rbis, if healthy. That makes up for a whole bunch of misplayed fly balls. I think even Zambrano would understand that.

*JCM = Juggling Circus Monkey

I really like yesterday's line up. With our pitching staff, I'd sacrifice a little defense for a ton of offense. You kidding me? Think of the difference. Boardgame and Dunn instead of Fukudome and Pie. Holy Cow! Come on Jim Hendry...read this blog. Make that deal. Two free agents. No trade. No loss of players. Keep the farm for a mid season deal...

The more I think of it, the more I like it.

More later. Or perhaps not.

Best defence is a good offence theory. It has some merit, but still could lead to a big Z tiff over a dropped fly ball. Remember the opening day game a couple of years ago where Donkeydick in Left field for the Reds single handedly gave the Cubs the game.

We need to keep the phrase JCM alive somehow, perhaps camp can provide some such opportunity.

Sunday is the winter solstice, days start getting longer, that will be nice. I like living in the pacific northwest, but it gets dark very early this time of year. 1 week to Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, recognition of the days starting to lengthen.

Just about time to pull out the 10 part PBS Baseball series.

Have a holly jolly weekend

what are you, French? Defence? Offence? That doesn't make sence to me.

I'm okay with Big Z fighting with players and I'd prefer they be able to handle themselves and not fight like Michaela Barrett. Of course, Milt Boardgame gets injured by fat little first base coaches...so...

I'd like to see Randy Johnson fight Mike Fontenot. It'd be funny. All that scampering around between Johnson's legs to the tune of something cartoonish. Preferably played at a slightly faster than usual speed. Classic.

Where was I? Oh, yes, winter solstice. Regular baseball blog topic, that one. I think your Latin is a little off because "Dies Natalis Solis Invicti" means that a woman named Natalie Solis Died whilst Inverted." Probably in coitus. That's inferred. (Not infa red, Smitty, inferred. And it's infrared anyway.)

Too bad about all that snow. It rained here for three straight days. I could barely bring myself to go out. Got down into the low 60's, too. Too fucking cold. So I feel your pain.

I was supposed to be skiing in Tahoe this weekend, nut it was postponed, so I guess I'll respond. Since we are stuck with Alf in left, my feeling is that we need a good defensive CF to offset him. One with speed, and one not afraid to Kelly Leak every ball in the gap. I do not like Milton B. Too much dugout carcinogen. Dunn would be OK...at least he can hit homeruns and is a lefty. I still want Peavy, and still thing there's a chance the Cubs get him...even if it isn't until June.

whaddya sayin? Skiing trumps responding?

I want seven guys* with 100 rbi's. Fuck defense. It's overrated.

*Theriot is the one without. He needs to score 150

We have enough 9 - 1 leads...it really doesn't matter if a couple balls land in the OF. Plus...us the little guys as defensive replacements once we get to the mercy rule.

A big offense with poor defense doesn't play well in October. Sure the juggling circus monkeys will kick the poo out of the Pirates, Nationals and most of the NL West but they will faulter in October. The only positive is about picking up Boardgame and Donkeydick is they would have to square off in the dugout by the all star break. Boardgame will be jiving to hip hop dejure in the locker room and Donkeydick will bust up his Ihome with his bat and turn up Faith Hill to 11. All hell will break out and Jesse Jackson will have to step in and protect the oppressed black MLB millionare. Point is- it will be a mess and ultimately they will not win in October, again.
