The guy we once wouldn't trade for Brian Roberts in now probably going to Baltimore for a PTBNL. Actually, that's not true. Lou screwed it up, as he isn't very astute with acronyms, and traded Hill for a PBJ. A peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Sad, but true.
I say we should sign Manny and Adam Dunn. Put Soriano in right, Manny in left and Dunn at first. Trade Lee and Fukudome to the west coast. Maybe Seattle will give us Olson back.
I know. Defense bad. But...offense very, very good.
Think about it. We wouldn't need Peavy. Salzieder could go 17 and 5 with that offense.
My off season report card:
1. We didn't get enough for Mark DeRosa
2. We didn't get enough for Cedeno and Olson
3. We didn't get enough for Pie
4. We won't get enough for Hill
Other than that, we've done well, wouldn't you say?
Good luck at the big game tomorrow -- I was hoping to make a Mesa run, but won't be able to. Sorry, Doc. (Sounds like you might be playing the last inning?)
Pittsburgh over Arizona.

So much for the Bash Brother updates
Smitty's Blog is good for something.
I heard Pie was the player that help up the Roberts trade last year. The Orioles love our 5 tool center field busts, see Patterson, Korey. We should have known Pie would be a bust also and traded him when he had real value.
And so we now trade Pie for a slice of apple pie.
Doc, who did Pepitone punch this camp?
Update from Mesa:
Pepitone brought his son to camp and was somewhat moderated because of it. We did not hear the story about the tranny hooker Joe picked up. His son turned out to be a good guy, but he has his fathers work ethic, missing 3 or 4 games due to just not showing up.
This years bash brothers started 0-5, but went 4-1 over the last 5. I'm not sure what inning we play tomorrow, but it will not be in the top 4. We also added the lead singer of Pearl Jam as a late week signee. I had a poor Wednesday, terrible Thursday and very good friday at the plate to finish just 1 hit over .500. Worst BA since my rookie camp. Leather was stellar however if I do say so myself.
Once again despite planning ahead, John Salzieder was not on our team, good thing for him as his squad won it all. They did field like drunken monkeys behind him in the Giants game however, and a good effort went to waste.
Oh goody we signed paul Bako for about a $300K savings over Hank White. And the Orioles are going to get back to us about adding the jelly to the PBJ sandwich for Hill-o-crap-I-can't-throw-strikes-anymore.
I check the Cubs web site, they did sign Bako. .217 lefthanded hitter, defense minded throwing out 28% of base stealers. Koy Hill can do that, shit Sherm could do that and he is a righty. Do we have such a hard on for left handed hitting that we sign a .217 hitter, what does .217 turn into
.320 just because it is from the left side of the plate.
Hendry is sticking to the game plan, just get a little worse with every move and we won't lose any games in October, cause we won't be there.
Hill-o-crap is about what he is worth in a trade at this point.
How old is Pepitones son? I picture a totally irresponsible overweight asswipe.
The Kid is about 32, and quite overweight, but probably not an asshole. Works with computers for a penal system ( insert your own joke here).
Just got back from camp and I am proud to call myself champion. 9 new guys on my team out of 11 so I got about 5 AB's a game. Threw 6 for a complete game on wed after the sunday 9 and was tired. Fergie said to never to put ice on a sore arm, run and heat only, tried it and what do you know. Eddie Vedder sang U2 karaoake last night. I followed with " Lets' get drunk and screw". I wasn't as big a hit. I went to the Strip J on Wed with Doc R, it was 2 for 1 night on everything, except happy endings I couldn't last that long.True to form, the best looking girl was the worst dancer and I can't understand the whole tattoo thing. Pitched against Stev Cuddy of our giant tam on Wed. He got on of their 3 hits. really a nice guy! All the campers whined because the giants put a hurtin on the whole hundley camp, 7 wins to 1 for hundley. Next year they may just due an all star game. Campers lost to pros 22-12 but when I walked out it was 1-0 campers, 1st inning no less. Got to go haven't seen my kids for 9 days and their standing at the door. J Salzeider
