Congrats to Johnny Southsider

A champion in the group! Congratulations.

It's not as easy as you think to dominate a bunch of old geezers. I mean that.

I don't understand the Giants camp kicking the Cubs camp ass...what's up with that? Even so, an All Star team sounds kind of pissy and elitist for a fantasy camp.

Questions for you 09 campers:

Did Team Asskiss go over the top again? Are they still together?

Any mechanical arm injuries?

Ernie there? Santo? Sandberg? Dascenso?

What did Randy say about the "other" camp? It had to come up.

How was the new photographer?

Rich Hill O'beans is as good as gone. Off to Baltimore. We're getting nothing in return, which actually seems fair.

Everyone I talk to is high on Heilman. Live arm. Might end up as a good thing. We'll see.

I wish the season would start already.

11 Days until pitchers and catchers report, and I don't mean the Pepitone kind of pitcher and catcher.

Congrats to Southsider, I assume the Giant dominance has something to do with the fact that the Giants actually pitch and their camp.

Yes, is team asskiss still together?

I am going to assume I know who you are talking about and yes both of those teams were together again. I for the life of me can't figure out why? It seems to defeat the purpose of the camp. Doc Raker is right, no matter what you say hitting three days on the pitching machines is much different than slow, fast, curve etc. and playing one game makes it hard to get the timing down. I don't think Randy was to keen on the all star game either but alot of the guys were upset to go over there and have a 25 y/o throwing deuces on 2-1 counts at girls so there was alot of talk about how to be more competitive. Also, the giants (coaches and players) with all their funky rules are very competitive. My opinion for what it is woth is that alot of campers would go to an evening all star game, couple of drinks, etc and would probably support their fellow campers so long as they were playing two that day also. Remember, alot of guys are begging out of the lineup by Thurs. But alas you have alot of guys who can't see their toes but still believe their an allstar and would grumble if not chosen. Lotta actual ball players in camp this year with good tools, I was impressed. No Banks or Williams, Santo was there two days, Don Kessinger was new and Burt Campaneris was an added bonus. John answered most of your questions, but I did not hear Randy address the other camp.
The new photog was nothing special, I'm getting jaded after the few camps.

One thing that John also did not mention was the quality of human beings on his team. they came somewhat as a group and were loud and with out respect. one of them pointed out, loudly, that Randy's career batting average was .236. This was at the Sunday get to know you meeting and Randy did respond with a civil tongue lashing. The same dude was repeatedly told to be quiet during Saturday Nights "banquet", and I felt Sorry for John and his wife who had to sit at the same table.

I do not at all recommend flying with a sinus cold, fucking miserable. I spent the Superbowl in my recliner literally with a bag of Ice on my head, better today but still snotty ( so what's new).

Interesting 4th quarter, I missed a lot of commercials due to somnolence, but was more impressed with the number of yahoos willing to cough up $3Mill for 30 seconds than the commercials them selves.
MLB TV had the 4th game of the Astroholes/White Sox world series on opposite of the football game.
2 weeks of absolutely nothing worthwhile in sports until Valentines day.
Groundhog's day... did Smitty see his shadow?

An all star game might be cool in addition, not as a replacement but I bet it would cause more upset than it is worth when people who would like to play don't get picked. I don't think anyone would want to sit next to Bad Mojo and listen to what he would have to say at his first camp after getting shut out of the all star game. Three games in one day might be a little much for some, I mean, how much advil can you really take in one week- that might push ones liver over the edge.

Plus, how many fights would break out in the stands between rival campers. Could you imagine Hollywood Mark going fisticuffs with a 75 year old Giant camper. How embarrassed he would be when he gets laid out.

Sorry to hear of the poor sports and foul mouths, good sportsmanship is the hallmark of a fun camp. Maybe they need to go back to Little League and learn some things.

now that Weurtz is gone....I am beginning to wonder what sam hell ganja is being baked into Hendry's brownies. Only Peavy or Sheets make any of these moves make sense. Pie is the reason the Cubs didn't get Roberts LAST year. Now we essentially have given away DeRosa, Pie, Hill, Weurtz, and Wood. Something big is brewing, or someone big is drinking a lot of brew. Answer to follow in the coming weeks.
