I hate it. There. I said it. I hate the World Baseball Classic. First of all...who the hell are they to declare their own event a classic? I find that arrogant and irritating.
I won't watch a minute of it -- for one, because I don't care and secondly, when I want to root for the US, I watch the Opympics. Or the Little League World Series. The World Baseball Classic is a useless, poorly timed series of baseball games. They interfere with spring training, and so help me...if Geo Soto gets injured doing it...someone is going to pay.
Carlos Marmol made the right decision. Not to go.
While I'm at it, the Cubs need a new beat writer. Muskat is awful. I know that I'm not the first blogger to mention it -- HJE does a fine job lampooning her -- but as tolerant as I am...and you all know how tolerant I am...I can't take it any longer. She should go cover the world baseball classic.
Maybe I will change the name of my blog to Sherm's Classic Blog. Or should it be Sherm's Blog Classic?
I just want games to start so that I can see Sam Fuld again, okay?

Did you check out baseball america's top 100 prospects? The Cubs are hideously under represented. Do we have that few top prospects? Not sure, but there's got to be more on the farm than Samardzija and Vitters.
I'm OK with the classic. It's poorly time, but honestly....what would be a good time? I wish they'd just put it in the Olympics and shut the season down for 2 weeks like hockey, but that'd NEVER happen. I really doubt anyone will give the Cubans or Dominicans any trouble. A LOT of the best players are sitting it out..and it probably will suck...what wit hthe kwazimoto pitch count limits and silly rules. I will like it a lot less if Z, Soto, or Lilly gets even a Murnyak strain. I'll probably like it more if A-Fraud gets hurt. What the hell is with him playing for the Dominican team? He has come full circle and has now accomplished complete and utter douchbaggerry.
They want to play 162, two rounds of playoffs and the WS into November and the WBC. Why? For more revenue. MLB doesn't make enough, the players don't make enough? I like the idea of the WBC but I do not the timing. I think it would be much better after the WS played in warm weather cities although that would interfer with the winter leagues. But who really cares about games in the carribean, mexico and venezuela anyways. If you have to have armed gaurds in the dugout it isn't a baseball game I would want to go to.
A-Roid has be a douchbag for a long time. He was born in the USA what's this Domincan shit? Not that I want him playing for Team USA anyway.

I'm also OK with the classic, Remember the first "World Series" was played by 2 teams just under 500 miles apart, and MLB extended no further south or west than St Louis until the 1950s.
It's bad timing, but every other time on the calendar is worse. I'm not sure how to balance the risk to the teams of injury with the national pride of winning (which may exist in other countries than our own). I'm glad we have only 3, and wish it were fewer for the same reasons. I will watch and will probably root for the US and Dominican (not sure why, just like them).
Musk bag does write like a douche bag, but she has to be distracted by the sausage fest that is the Fitch park locker room. Beat writers for other clubs seem to pound out the same predictable crap as she does... I guess the cliches' are such because there really is nothing new that has never been written before to say. Just different names in the same situations.
Did anybody see the Prime 9 about players who should be in the HOF but aren't? 3 Cubs, with Santo at the top of the list. Fucking sportswriters.

What is a "douchebag person" in the literal sense anyways. Blacks D says it is a device for giving douches, WTF. Blacks D also says it is a jet of water used to clean any body cavity, so what gives. How can a person be a douchebag? Where's smitty with his foul mouth when you need him. He'd say something like' WTF---m-fer---sob--lickmyass--etc etc. something really to the point, and then get picked off first walking back to it, why this?
mojo speaks true -- the Cubs are hideously underrepresented in the top 100. Especially when you consider the trades we made...DeRosa for three guys who aren't on the list? Hill, Pie, etc...all for nothing. Crack in the kruller strikes again.
