Sheets

Would you consider Ben Sheets on a one year deal with a club option? Anyone? Anyone? Healthy he's good...we know that. Just a thought. Only cost would be money since we don't have anyone left to trade to San Diego for Peavy. Just a thought. I'm still okay with Marshall as our number five...as long as Harden is good to go. If he's made of glass, that worries me.

Hey, it's almost time for Smitty's biannual blog update. Stay tuned.

I can't stand it anymore. When does the season start already?

Any of you attending any preseason games? If so, let me know...

Sing Sheets and have him and Harden pitch everyother start, maybe that could keep them both healthy. I wouldn't pay too much for Sheets or have an incentive layden contract, he certainly is not reliable which is why he has been jetsam from the Brewers.

We will be at the Marriott Buttes in Tempe 3/28-3/30 with a group of family and little league families. Please join us. The Buttes is next to Tempe Diablo (Angels) Stadium. We walk down to the complex and play catch on there practice fields. The Cubs play at HoHo on that Sunday. I wish there was a nice rsort next to HoHo but there is not, Mesa is a pit.

Sheets is a waif. Our word builder for the day. This means an unclaimed, or perhaps lost person. He could be a good pick up Cheap, or with an incentive laden contract, I'd be willing to add him under such circumstances, and think "job-sharing" with R Harden would be a good Idea. Incidentally R Harden and R Dempster were lurking about the weight room last week a full 2 weeks ahead of the reporting date.

In looking up Jetsam, as everyone has by now done, you see that the french word for jettison is jeter. Small world.
No truth to the rumor that the French word for Sherm is Roget.

If this is going to become a blog trail just for smart people, we may lose readers from the non-baseball interest line. It is well known that Baseball fans are the best educated, and most intelligent of the sport fans.

Footballers... big, dumb jock wannabees.
Hockey...footballers without teeth.
basketball...4th grade education at best.

Well you get the picture.

MLB.com is reporting today that Sheets failed the Rangers physical as he needs shoulder surgery.

Man timing is everything.

The Brewers actually offered him arbitration knowing he had this injury at the all star break last year. Sheet's declined arbitration which would of gauranteed him at least $10M, bad move. Now they are bickerin gover who will pay for the surgey bill. Sheets also tore his latissimus dorsi muscle last year. I don't know if waif properly describes Sheets now that we have this new information. I think a better adjective would be "he is Prior". Defined as a, well I think all of us educated Cub fans know that word.

I tore my muscle, but not my
latissimus dorsi muscle. I guess it's because I'm divorced and spend too much time alone.

I don't think Sherm will ever show up as one of the Bash Brothers again.
All So California talk.

He called me the other day and got off the phone within 10 minutes to
do something more important.

I guess my English is bad...I heard him say...I'll Call you Back.
