I feel much better now

We've turned it around. Nice game yesterday. Should have played just the call ups as the rest of the team looked and played poorly. Marquis really wasn't too bad, but if you can't score, you usually won't win.

Not that it mattered much yesterday in the grand scheme of things, but batting Fukudome second? Another 0 - 4. Did anyone believe that he could hit Oswalt? He can't hit any lefty, or good righty. He is decent against below average righties who can't hit their spots. I do have to give him that.

Of course the middle of the order -- 2 through 6 -- went 0 for 17. Question. Gerald Perry is the hitting coach, right? Do they have team meetings about strategy against each pitcher before each game? I was wondering because sometimes the whole team looks equally out of sync. Does he tell them "good idea to look at first pitch strikes today" and "make sure you swing at that slider that dips out of the zone?" Just wondering.

Pie is apparently having a pretty nice finish to his minor league season, but they didn't call him up because Iowa is in the playoffs. I am glad that the organization has its priorities in line. Wouldn't want to cost Iowa in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Edmonds is slumping...I wouldn't mind seeing Pie get a shot at centerfield a few games here in September while we are in a pennant race. But I wouldn't want to get in Iowa's way. I mean, when was the last time Iowa won it all?

I'd like to see Hoffpauir get a few days of starts. Give DLee a rest. Maybe he can play right field, too? Don't know. Find him a spot in the lineup, though. The offense looks sluggish.

Zambrano should be fine today. His arm got an extra two hours sleep.

Side note: Greg Maddux has had a tired arm since 2002

I'll miss today's game -- traveling again. It'll be over by the time I get where I'm going. Hopefully it will have been a "W" -- tired of losing, and we can't count on the Mets bullpen every day.

Happy Birthday to my son in law, Steve the Met fan. Since it is your birthday, I'm rooting for the Mets today. Just for you.

Best to cb

Supposedly there was a coaching staff meeting to come up with ideas to "shake up" the lineup. Here's one. You ready? Hit Theriot leadoff, then platoon the 2 hole with Reed J vs. lefties, or Fontenot vs. righties. Alf hits 3rd. Aram 4th, DLee 5th, Soto 6th, Derosa 7th (he plays 2nd against lefties, and Right against lefties and Fuko 8th (he plays center against lefties, and, in general, continues to suck). Give Edmonds and Hoffpauir a shot as seen fit by a major league hitting coach.

I also tend to panic when we go a few games without any out put from the "meat" of the order, but I still remind myself it's a season long issue. a little ganja... don't worry be happy.

Check out Smitty's world for a disjointed, rambling look at America today.

How about playing all the call ups and giving Dlee and Aram some rest. They look tired, and when was the last time Dlee got an extra base hit or a HR for that matter. Soto needs to be in the meat of the line up, he has been most consistent throughout the season.

I think, at this point, the CUbs have gotten all they are going to get from Edmonds. A weak ass 1-2-3 double play with the bases loaded in the first...off Backe...who might be worse than Doc Mike's nemesis the Fitch Park machine.

Give Hoffpauir a shot to play right...and platoon Fuko and Reed in CF...I am officially off the Edmonds bandwagon...in the last week he has shown no arm, no range in center, and no pop.

Response to Mojo:

He'll never bat Theriot first. It makes SENSE. And Alfy dudn't wanna bat no where else.

Lee fifth? Never! He's tall.

Response to Doc R:

Maybe ganja would make Smitty's world an easier one to understand.

Note to Smitty: What the fuck?

Response to Doc Hoer:

DLee hit a homer in April. Soto likes meat.

Response to Mojo 2:

At least Edmonds hit a home run that tied the game. Lee hasn't hit a ball in the air out of the infield since he was a Marlin. Or so it would seem.

Oh, and Edmonds pop called, and said "what the fuck?"
