I keep reading that Adam Dunn WANTS to be a Cub. Are you kidding me? I don't care if right field becomes an amusement park...sign this guy. He wants to be a Cub. He says he's not looking to break the bank...just be fair. We are talking about 50 or 60 home runs added to last year's team total. That's more. Probably 125 rbi's. That's more than Fukudome. Yeah. It is. And he does walk a lot. Yes, he strikes out a lot, too. So do Pie and Goes K. Sign him. Ummm...what was that top priority again? Oh yes...power lefty bat for the outfield...

Adam Dunn is a DH in waiting, get used to it. Look for him in an Angel uniform coming soon, JCM are not wanted in the NL, see Ramirez, Manny.
Statistically, I would think that there are a lot more fly balls to drop in RF than you can make up for with a bomb every 3 games. Let 6 drop, hit one out- bad deal.
I think Hitler is going to be pissed when we sign another shitty RF in Boardgame, at least we still have his favorite pitcher- Kerry Wood!

Dunn isn't as bad as you make him sound. Our lineup with him in it is formidible...plus, against certain righies, he can spell Lee at first and let Gathpiedome play right. With Fontenot at 2b those days...we might be able to actually win some games against those pitchers we saw in the playoffs.
I'm ambivalent. While it would be fun to watch Dunn launch balls onto the roof decks across Sheffield, it will be painful to see any ball hit to right field, and its already painful to see balls hit to left field. Hard to root one way or another for this deal. If it happens, swell, if not, just keep waiting out Towers for Peavy.
I'm with Mojo on this one, very much a double edged sword. What we cannot do is sign both Donkeydick and Boardgame. JCM's are fun to chat about, but painful to watch in the field. Note the Yankees essentially loaded up on big hit questionable field guys (at least other than the left side of the infield), and this has not worked out too well for them.

1b and DPlee on the trading block to San Diego. The one good thing about acquiring Dunn would be we would know his fundamentals are in tack since being recently managed by Dusty Baker. Dusty is always so good at pounding home the fundamentals with players, like his star student KKorey Patterson.
The only contact I would ever want to have with Pepitone is my fist and his face.

Anyone can cover left field at Fenway, it is 235 feet down the left field line. Wrigley is the opposite with one of the deepest parks down the line at 355- the power alleys are short at Wrigley- making the territory to be covered much greater.
OK, you want Dunn so bad- go get him. I agree the offense would be much improved but we will see about his defense. I think his defensive deficiencies are much bigger than a few fly balls that drop, with Marmol being a strike out pitcher maybe it can work out.
I found this interesting: Jamie Moyer has been in the bigs for 22 years, is he a hall of famer? Compare his stats to Burt Blyleven, another 22 year major leaguer that many say belong in the hall. Their stats have similar comparison's. I don;t think Moyer belongs in the hall and maybe now I have an opinion on Blyleven, although Blyleven pitched in the era of complete games. Interesting subject with the election coming up and certainly a bitter Blyleven will be interviewed once again when he misses induction. Do your own comparison.
Longevity does not a hall of fame career make.
Although, 22 years is pretty impressive...especially for a pitcher that doesn't throw a knuckleball. Speaking of which, if Moyer gets in -- what about Wakefield? He'll be around another few years at least...
Plus, I think Moyer knows Ron Santo...which hurts his chances.
Moyer 246 - 185. Not a bad pct, but not HOF. 4.16 era. Eh.
Blyleven shouldn't be in, either. 287 - 250? Not much over .500. Lots of K's, sure, about 3800...but in 22 years. 3.90 era. Doesn't get my vote.
What about Mussina? 270- 153 with 2800+ K's and an era of 3.68. Much more impressive winning percentage. Is that because he was on better teams? Or was a better pitcher. era might indicate better pitcher.
Besides, you vote in Moyer and now you have to vote in Dennis Martinez, David Wells, Jack Morris and Jerry Reuss and Kenny Rogers.
