Miscellaneous Mumbo Jumbo

after some thought, I like the Edmonds signing. Why not? Cost us no players and very little money. Pie was not doing anything. If he returns to form, he'll help us, and if not, he's gone anyway. I would like to see some left handed power in the middle of the lineup. Rumor is that Lou is going to bat Fukudome in the two spot and move Edmonds to 5. Where does that leave Theriot? He's the hottest hitter on the team, and his OBP is skyrocketing. He should lead off, but we all know how that story ends. Lou will most likely move Theriot to the 8 spot, where he will get fewer at bats, and poorer pitches to work with. If Ramirez can "accept" the move to the five spot, I'd rather see:

Soriano
Theriot
Fukudome
Lee
Ramirez
Edmonds
Soto
DeRosa
Pitcher

Nice use of lefties to break up the RH power...thoughts?

Nice to see Ted Lilly finally join the team.

Maddox will not be able to get Fukudome out.

More later. or not. JS

I can't agree. Edmonds sucks...literally and figuratively. Leave Pie and R. Johnson in the CF platoon. We all know that Soriano should be in the 4-5 hole...won't happen. You are right about 1 thing....watch Theriot's AB's, BA, and OBP dive bomb if he has to hit 8th. Maybe Lou takes a page out of LaRussa's book and hits big Z 8th on days he pitches.

I only agree with the Edmonds experiment because he comes to us so cheap. If he plays well and hits, I can forgive him for being a Cardinal. And womanly. If he can't -- toss him out and bring Pie back. It will not hurt Pie to get some at bats in AAA.

Don't fuck with Theriot. He needs to stay in the 2 spot.

Maybe Edmonds is the page out of Larussa's book. Rumor is that Julian Tavarez, Edmonds and LaRussa had a three way.

the only thing that has happened is that the Cubs are slower and more injury prone today than they were yesterday. It's amazing that they are winning games with the incompetence at GM, pitching coach, hitting coach, and manager.

See the link above for a surprising development. Seems Nancy Prior has hurt her shoulder again. I'd hate, I mean HATE to be a Padre fan right now. Gotta feel bad for Peavy, to be hitting 9th and be arguably their best hitter in yesterdays game. It's like little league, where the guy pitching hits cleanup.

Gotta go with the Shermster on this one, IF Edmunds works out, the Friars are paying for him, if not, they still are. Pie can use regular at bats. Of course Murton is hitting over 400, reluctantly, he needs to be traded so he can play. Maybe get a pitcher for him, though our rotation is improving steadily. Perhaps Murton, Marquis, and one of the Seans for Peavy or Young from the pads.
Just about time for the game.

how about Murton, Marquis and a Sean for Roy Halladay?
