Sabathia

More posts than comments, but what the hell.

If the Brewers get Sabathia, which is being rumored...and they get him for a great big bucket of nothing, or not much...I'll be pissed. We could have easily offered just as much nothing. In fact, I think we have more nothing than most teams. If we don't get him, at least we will have kept Felix Pie. Phew. Suddenly we are afraid of "mortgaging the future"? -- what future? We haven't won in a century. Memo to management. Win now. If you aren't trading away Zambrano, it's probably okay. Indians want young power. Give them Vitters. Give them Murton and a drum of 'roids.

The brighter side, if the Brewers get Sabathia? With him and Fielder on the same team? The other Brewers will starve. They will not be able to afford both Sabathia and enough food.

I'm thinking (hoping) the beer makers overpaid for a 3 month rental. We've done that (see: Juan Pierre). You really can give too much for a guy who won't fit long term for what ever reason. No reason to expect that the cubs would dole out another big ass contract to keep the fat tub of goo if they had traded for him.
Some days, we have all the pitching we need, others it's short. When the offense is on, it doesnt matter.
I like Murton, but he needs to go elsewhere, he can't find a spot with us in the near future. I expect he will be packaged for a pitcher that we may or may not need.
The crane that collapsed during the construction of Miller park came from where I live. Food for thought.

that oversized tub of shit (unless he becomes a Cub) is one of the best pitchers around. Hey, look at it this way. He can diet and I'm ugly. Wait. I think I got that joke wrong.

Anyway -- rentals are good when they don't cost you much, and the Brewers can't overpay by giving so little to get so much (yes, I mean that in more ways than one. I'm clever that way.)

If we made a pound for pound trade, we'd have to give the Indians the entire Peoria team and the bus they use. And Daryl Ward.

Fuck the Brewers. I smell a season ending injury coming on for Sheets anyway.

When management makes a move like this, it shows the fans and more importantly the team on the field that winning a world series is tantamount. I listed in yesterdays comments the half dozen or so players the Cubs could have given up for this "rental."

A Cy Young award winning power lefthanded pitcher is not Juan Pierre.

Conversely, when management fails to pull the trigger -- that, too, speaks volumes to the team and the fan base.

Thank goodness we kept Lil Pat.

Always look at the bright side of life.

Although I reserve the right to enter a comment in 4 months to show how omniscient I am. Sabathia will be a .500 pitcher for the keg dwellers and we will be fine with or with out R. Harden (His porn name (ask Mark DeCarlo about porn names)).

PARAMOUNT. Not just a motion picture studio.

Anyone who thinks Sabathia will be a .500 pitcher, down the stretch, for a good offensive team, IN A CONTRACT YEAR, is either stupid or knows nothing about what makes big league ballplayers tick. He WILL be a force, because he wants to get paid. Milwaukee now has 2 of the best 3 starting pitchers in the NL, and are in my opinion, the team to beat. They will be ridiculously tough in a playoff series with that 1-2 punch.

Here's what happens now. To compensate to the fans for NOT making the Sabathia deal, Hendry will go out and totally overpay for a lesser pitcher. Watch. You'll see.
