What a waste

I feel bad for Rich Harden that we can't score even one run for him in a game like that. Middle of the order -- Lee, Ramirez, Soto, DeRosa go 0 for 14...ouch.

Here's the thing about the Cubs, and it's the same as last year. We are a very good hitting team...against BAD pitching. We are a poor hitting team against GOOD pitching. The DBacks proved that last year in the playoffs. Problem is that when you get to the playoffs? The other guys all have good pitching. Oops.

First and second with none out in the ninth and the "big guys" coming up. What do we get out of that? Nothing. I don't know about the rest of you...but I am concerned.

Need another gem from Marquis tonight...that's a lot of pressure on the pitchers...

Anybody else notice that in the 9th last night, Brenly referred to there being a problem with the teams MOJO.

I guess now we know where the blame lies.

It blows chunks that you can give up one hit over 7 innings and lose the game. Cub pitching has been very good as of late which is why I still have to feel good about them as a whole. Worried, sure, but still confident things will work out.

The talking heads try to get us to worry abut the Cubs by saying they are 9-3 against the Pirates. If you take away those games from the pirates schedule, they would be 3 games under .500, and would be only 1 game back in the West, in the top half of the league overall, and smack in the middle of the pack in MLB in general. Maybe the Pirates don't really suck, and should be given a little more credit, and thus the Cubs a little more credit for beating up on them. Some teams just match up against others well, though might not be overall stronger.

don't blame me...blame the crappy pitching coach, and the lack of proper use of the depth this team has. Fontenot and Derosa should each be playing 4-5 times a week, giving days off to Theriot, Fuko, Lassie, Reed Johnson, and Soriano. Derosa should be playing third at least once a week giving Aram a day off. The team looks tired to me. That is why I mentioned yesterday the importance of getting some quality help from the farm Aurgust 31st when the rosters expand. This team is not a lock to win this division or gat the wild card. I am not giving up by any means, but the team needs to be better managed.

I agree with everyone. Plus, all year Lou has used the bullpen unwisely. Howry and Marmol with HUGE leads early in the season when he could have been saving some arm weariness down the road. Not entirely sure that he and this coaching staff really know what they are doing. Good teams, poorly managed, don't win. Margin teams, well managed, sometimes do win. Good teams, well managed, are always in it. In my opinion, the jury is out on Lou and this staff.
