THE trade

I am happy with this deal

1. Harden, if healthy, is a stud, frontline pitcher. Let's hope he stays healthy. Gallagher is a tough loss, but it's certainly worth it.

2. Gaudin is a major league relief pitcher -- pitched for Lou in Tampa and might be able to help our pen right now.

3. Murton gets a chance to play -- and should do well in the A's system.

4. LilPat? Good riddance. Hope he can find Oakland. Maybe he'll fly to Auckland by mistake. Not the brightest family.

5. Soto should be our catcher for the next ten years...so giving up a minor league catcher is no big deal.

6. XM. It just doesn't make sense.

7. So what now? Are we done? The Brewers say that they are not...I see them going after more bullpen help. What do we need?

8. If you are the Cardinals, are your panties in a bunch?

9. Just to further piss off the entire state of Wisconsin, the Bears should sign Brett Favre.

10. Dempster now 10 and 0 at home. Sweet. Is he our first half MVP? I think so. I would also consider Soto, Theriot, Ramirez and yes, Wood, for that honor.

Well...enough for now...

great deal...a fleecing if Harden helps us even a little.

Just an add on to my post earlier...the only part of the deal that I don't like is that I think that Gallagher IS Rich Harden in two years. And maybe a Rich Harden without the injuries...

Thta said, Harden and Gaudin help us more now than the other four we gave up. So it's not a fleecing for us now, and if we win it doesn't matter what those four become -- it can't be called a fleecing for the A's.

Now watch. That catcher we threw in? He'll go on to become the next Johnny Bench.

That's how it is with Billy Beane.

Now go do the right thing.

Gallagher has potential and we always worry about Lou Brock resurfacing, but R. Harden (I'm likely to stick with that) IS what we thought we had with Mark p. Very hopefully he is not blessed with the same lack of intestinal fortitude.

Since you brought up the packers, the NFC championship game last year (this year) was at the same time as the welcome banquet for our camp. The crowd was fairly evenly divided with packer fans and haters, though all are cub fans. I know several folks with season tickets at both Lambeau and Wrigley. Randy really never had control of the evening as updates on the game were what most folks were most interested in.

8:32 AM???

It's my understanding that a great many campers thought Sherm was a packer due to his shower habits.
