Enough already

No. I am not referring to the Cubs. I'm talking about Vin Scully. Shut up, already. Is he still talking? For God's sake, someone stop him.

DeRosa played a great game. Defensively, especially. Fukudome...clutch hit. Hey, was that Jim Edmonds with two hits and an amazing run scoring diving catch in centerfield? I think it was.

So when did Kerry Wood turn into Mitch Williams? What the hell was that? Hitting Tiffee with a 1 and 2 count and two outs? Then walking Pierre? Then blowing Kemp away. A save is a save, I suppose.

So...Jeff Kent? Juicer? Came up as a little stick figure second baseman. Went on to some 40 homer years. Thoughts?

Soto looks overmatched in a lot of at bats. Drop him in the order...now -- he should not be hitting 6. He's a rally killer right now.

Is Scully still jawing? Shut the fuck up! "Aramis's mother is an accountant" -- who cares? He probably makes all that shit up anyway. "Theriot owns a batting cage" -- so what? Shut up! And it's pronounced "Dose Kay" not "Do Sue Key" for crying out loud. It's "Ar-a-mis" not "a-RAM-is", dammit.

Twice he went on about Soto spells "Geovany." So what? What's so strange about that? Ask Jhonny Perhalta. He didn't name himself anyway. Who cares? Shut the fuck up! Is he still talking?

I gotta go.

JS (Sherm used to play little league in New Jersey and was once sponsored by the local ice cream shoppe) aargahhhhhhhh -- now I'm doing it!

Last nights huge sack award goes to Theriot. 3 hits, including the double off Saito, and scored the winning run. He is the 5th or 6th leading hitter in the National Leage. The scrappy little Cajun is hitting .330 or so, with an OBP of over .410. Are you kidding me with hitting Soriano leadoff still. Should have been a shorter 9th...Loney looked very out on that play at 2nd. Derosa might have had the tag on him as he slid past the bag, making him out twice. Not a very good call. I bet Vin thought he was safe. He is a huge umpire apologist. Listened to the 7th and 8th innings on XM driving home from my HS baseball banquet...Charlie Steiner does a decent job on the radio. You are spot on about Scully....god awful. I deal with HS parents that know everything there s to know about baseball because they've been listening to Vin their whole lives. He is the Les Nessman of baseball broadcasters. Everything is news to that guy. Still don't like Edmonds. He doesn't suck as much as I thought....still hate him. I'll be wearing my batting helmet in the 8th row on Saturday if Wood comes in to close. If he gets an 0-2 count on anyone, he could concievably hit me.

The scrappy little cajun who sounds like he comes from the bayou actually does hail from Baton Rouge and co-owns a batting cage there.

Charlie Steiner does a good job. His sister is an architect and she once designed a home for Jeff Kent's aunt. Funny thing is that Jeff doesn't have any uncles.

Soriano batting leadoff is interesting because once, in his hometown in the Dominican, his job was to was get the lead off the floor in a metal plant. His middle name is Guilleard (it really is) which means "swing at everything" in French. He once played for the carp, which is appropriate because he catches flies likes he's fishing.

Huge sacks have a wonderful backstory in baseball, including the time that Tommy Lasorda tried to eat his own arm.

Oh, God, somebody stop me......

help..............

Enjoy the games the rest of the weekend. At least I'll be there live Saturday, so I won't have to hear senile Vin and his ramblings. Could you imagine if that guy had a blog?

I obviously missed something last night. I watch most of the games on WGN or Directv's extra innings which usually allows a choice between home and visitors channels, so I heard Len and Bob last night and not longwinded (but impressive) Vinny.

Life has become strange in that the first site I visit in the morning is Shermrants. I'm not sure what this says.
A certain animal loving centerfielder is above the Mendoza line.

I also own a batting cage, Doesn't everyone? It's in the basement.
It must be OK to hit a batter who is not leading off the 9th. Looney did overslide while the tag was still on.

Remember that list of players we hate, Kent moved up to the top. Let's drill him the first time up and not worry about him for a few games.

Kerry Williams... it did have that feel.
