I have very little to say

Glad that I taped the game, so I didn't have to hear too much of Joe Morgan raving about the White Sox. Plus, could the umpires have been any worse? Plus, are we snakebit or what? Bad calls combined with bad luck -- Edmonds should have had a two run double in the ninth...

What can you do?

Comments on the call that got Lou tossed? Damn near a full swing. And then the punk ump tosses Lou on his way back to the dugout...not even the ump he was originally going to talk to. What the hell?

I thought that Marshall looked pretty good...all things considered.

So that's it. I'm off to St. Petersburg (Florida, not Russia) so I have nothing to add to the debacle on the south side. I'm sure that Smitty will have a massive update sometime soon. Or should I say, Jim Bing.

I hate losing. It muddies up my otherwise sparkling personality.

Lou go tossed due to MLB's bullshit ban on arguing balls and strikes, which Lou was technically not doing. The school of thought is that you cannot have a better view of balls and strikes from the dugout..., BUT Lou was arguing a no fucking way check swing no call on a RIGHT HANDED BATTER from the first base dugout. He would have had a great look at it, and hence did the right thing by arguing. The first base ump was either asleep or checking out some El Camino driving greaser-chick in a halter top from Orland Park in the upper deck. These umps and their "don't come out here" attitude have got to go. WWEWD? Thats my new bad call acronym for "What would Earl Weaver do?" I feel Lou should have melted down more than he did after getting dumped, but he might have incited a riot at Drunkmiskey. They'e ve had one too many of those anyway. Come to think of it, with the belly, Lou is looking a little like Steve Dahl these days.

I think Lou was just trying to help an Ump who should be returned to the minors from whence he came forthright. He wanted to make sure the ump knew that a strike should be called if you swing the bat. There was obviously some lack of understanding on this point. Same ump also did not understand that if a runner reaches first base before the ball, he should be called safe.
It was the home plate ump (also a replacement) who decided to stick his nose in where it did not belong and toss Lou. Same guy who should be embarrassed by K zone if he has the balls to review the tape.
I agree that the automatic boot for arguing the strike zone is bullshit. Athletes have to live with their fuck-ups, umps should not get a pass. We know batting averages, era, etc. we should know an umps TOSSBAQ (total out/safe strike/ball accuracy quotient.)Ejections should be limited to those who make aggressive physical contact.

Bad umpimg didn't cost us the game. Slumps by our big guns did (Lee had a nice Saturday).

Little known fact: St Petersburg , Russia, was formerly known as Petrograd, and then Leningrad.
The town of the same name in Florida, was formerly known as Tampa's Asshole.

Lesser known fact. There are parts of St. Pete that are known as the little soft spot between the asshole and the other stuff. Just thought you'd like to know.

I was a herky jerky pitcher for the Red Sox in the 70's...or a eupimism for pereneum.
